Day 9: Dream

Martin Luther King Jr. stood in front of the Lincoln Memorial in March of 1963 and delivered a speech that is still one of the most famous speeches in the United States’ history. Many of the words he spoke then still can be echoed in the events of today and with that is also the opportunity to indeed dream for bigger and grander things for our nation.
King opened up a place of vulnerability, of depth, of relationship with the 250,000+ people that marched on Washington in 1963 and when that happens, when someone shares a dream and opens up their hearts for others to join there is something deeply significant that shifts and changes - especially when you see the persons passion behind the dream.

There is something about wanting to join and co-labor with that person to see it through.
What does this have to do with us today? We each have dreams, dreams to see things changed within our nation, our society. Maybe you have a dream of getting a certain job, starting a non-profit, of being an influencer. My friend may you dream and may you invite and keep on inviting and keep on moving forward within that dream no matter how few or many join. No matter what is said about that dream. Because, truthfully there is something so beautiful about dreaming that I think we as a society have let die.

Whether that is words that have been spoken over your dream, lies, fears, etc. Don’t stop. Please don’t stop dreaming and writing them down. As in Habakkuk 2:2 says “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” Take a risk and step forward within that dream you have, and may we be a people that use our dreams for the betterment of the people around us. May we be a people who dream again and come awake to something far bigger than ourselves.

Today what does it look like to dream again, to get out of the regular norm of what life has been? Go ahead and write down 100 dreams no matter how big or small and put it somewhere you can see every day and go and do them and live!

Jesus, we thank you that you give us hearts for more out of life. We thank you that you are ultimate dream giver and that you awaken our hearts to things that are bigger than ourselves. God may your Spirit pour out upon us and show us your dreams for this nation. Teach us the portion that you desire for us to come alongside you in, to steward and carry. Bring the Body together in a way where there is unity within Your dream for us, and may we stand together for the sake of Your Kingdom! You are so good and may we give you all the glory, honor, and praise that you deserve every single day. Amen.
